Benefits to Your Donated Horse
- Meaningful Work
The horses here at Ellis are used to train beginners how to ride and handle horses. Many of the volunteers and students that come here have never owned a horse, but want to know how to handle horses. We prepare future horse owners in horse care, riding, training and management.
- At least one day off per week
Though many get 2 days off a week; Work load depends on the demand in our programs and the health of the other horses.
- Professional management
-
Our staff has been managing and caring for horses for a combined 40 years. We pride ourselves in horse management that keeps them as close to their natural habits and healthy as possible including turn out, clean surroundings and safe enclosures.
- Loving care from over 30 volunteers from our community
Our volunteers love our horses!
- Look forward to retirement to a Loving home and good cause
The volunteers do become quite attached and protective of the horses here. They are well cared for in work and retirement and after.
- We are a public facility, come visit your donated horse during our open hours!
- Sorry! We do not take leased or borrowed horses.
If you are serious about donating your horse, please down load and fill out the Horse Information form. It is a short 2 page document that will fill us in on your horse's needs and history. We know no horse is perfect, so please fill out the document as honestly as possible. We take donated horses based on our needs, space availability and meeting the individual animal.
